Rolling Thunder
If you are to believe the liner notes, mr. Hempton goes out into the forest with his head-shaped stereo-separated microphone (which he affectionately calls "Fritz") and records things. Then he comes back and transfers the recordings to disc. Then they get sold. Hmm. Seems somewhat straighforward, huh. Well... I gotta say, they're the best damn natural recordings you'll ever hear. This thunderstorm it's subtle, expansive, and a totally amazing reproduction. I remember leaving it on when going to sleep, really low, and the floor still rumbled. You know what to do.
