Sumac
A 71+ minute piece of contained oscillations. Is as if somehow you're caught between two massive power cylinders as they cycle and sputter through fits of miscalibration. There's a constant rumbling and vibrato, while waves and waves of cold force wash across your field of hearing. The artists show a laudable degree of restraint, not allowing the piece to become overpowering, yet never letting their hands off of the switches. Though sometimes predicable, the album continues to present new variations on its dark sonic loomings, providing the listener with just enough suspense to hold interest. It's another limited release, so it may be rough riding for those wishing to be in hot pursuit.
