Institutional Collaborative
Even though this album doesn't have one single natural thing on it, it's impossible to call it anything other than Environmental. Strange, errie, irridescent rooms with sonic aperatures and white polished walls. The pieces themselves are Ambient in the truest Enoian sense -- meant to be heard, but not listened to. The liner notes give the impression that mr. Thaemlitz and ms. Doe never shared studio time; rather, they accumulated the compositions through repeated digital exchange. This is certainly not a novelty these days, but it helps to explain a strange sense of the harmonic ambivalence that the album packs. Though not widely available, I'd wager that Mille Plateaux is quite an acquirable label.
