Most of the tracks on this album sound like they were coaxed out of high-tension wires. Long-stroked resonances, metallic frictions, suspended tonal striations. Very steady-state. The true piece-of-resistance is the last track, which drops its frequencies way down slow & low then massages it with shortwave hiss and bandsaw idlings; it stays like that for a delightful 20 minutes. Mr. Mathieu's discs are a little on the obscure side, some so persistence may be required in finding a copy.
