Outside the Circle of Fire
So what does a musician do when he's bored with the studio life? Why, of course... he goes to Africa, sticks contact microphones in a zebra carcass, and records the sound of vultures having lunch. As creepy (gaah!) as that sounds, i'm pretty sure that no one has ever captured a recording of that sound before. And few of us are ever likely to get close enough to a leopard to hear the deep luster of her purr. With such simple technique, this disc brings home so many disparate images of the un-human world. If you're tired of whales, waves and birdies, i highly recommend a dose of Death Beetles, and i'm pretty sure that Touch can fix you up.
